The UK is one of the most popular study destinations for students from Punjab, Chandigarh and across India — world-famous universities, one-year master's degrees and January as well as September intakes. Here is how the Student visa works, step by step.
1. Choose your course and get an offer
Apply to a university that is a licensed student sponsor. You will first get a conditional offer (you still have to meet conditions such as final marks or English score) and then an unconditional offer once everything is met.
2. Pay the deposit and request your CAS
Most universities ask for a tuition deposit and a short credibility check (sometimes an interview) before issuing your CAS — Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies. The CAS number is the heart of your visa application.
3. Prepare your documents
- Valid passport
- CAS number and the documents listed on it (marksheets, degree, English test)
- Proof of funds: tuition still to pay plus living costs, held for the required period (usually 28 days)
- Tuberculosis (TB) test certificate from an approved clinic in India
- Education loan sanction letter, if your funds come from a loan
4. Apply online, pay the IHS and give biometrics
Fill the online form, pay the visa fee and the Immigration Health Surcharge (IHS), then book your biometrics appointment at the visa application centre. You can apply up to six months before your course starts.
5. Decision and travel
Decisions usually arrive within a few weeks. You will receive a vignette (or eVisa details) to travel and then collect or use your digital status in the UK.
How we help
We shortlist universities that match your profile and budget, prepare your file, coach you for the credibility interview and file the visa with you — so nothing is missed.
