UK universities run two main intakes for international students: September (the largest) and January. Some also offer May. Both lead to the same degree — the difference is choice and timing.
September intake
- The widest choice of courses and universities
- More scholarships and student-society activities at the start of the year
- Applications open the previous autumn — start 8–10 months ahead
January intake
- Great if your results came late or you missed September
- Smaller classes and quicker offers at many universities
- Many popular universities for Indian students run January intakes for business, computing, data and management courses
Our advice
If your profile is ready, aim for September for maximum choice. If you need a few more months to improve English scores or arrange funds, January is an excellent option — and our counsellors can tell you which universities still have seats.
